Communities
suffering from lack of food are unable to provide subsidies for teachers
who themselves have no time for food production due to their responsibilities
in the schools. Without teachers the schools cannot open. Basic student
and school needs are unable to be met for the same reasons.
Who receives the fund?
The fund targets over 31,000 students, and over 1300 teachers in Karen
State (Kawthoolei). Many schools urgently request support for teacher
subsidies, for basic student food/health needs and for school materials.
Using up-to-date information gathered by our members, the fund's selection
committee will ensure that the most urgent needs of schools are prioritized.
Support will be integrated into existing community structures for supporting
schools: helping communities help their own schools.
How will funds be distributed?
Our mobile teacher training team
visits all Kawthoolei schools three times per year. Mobile trainers will
distribute funds directly to selected schools. These mobile trainers will
monitor the use of funds, and facilitate any correspondence that might
be requested between the school and you or your group.
Criteria?
Support can only be used for teacher subsidies, student basic
living needs, school materials and/or school buildings. In an attempt
to distribute support fairly, individual schools will receive, per distribution
cycle, a maximum of:
5,000 Baht for primary, 10,000 Baht for middle and 15,000 Baht for high
schools.
How can you help?
Only $100 USD can provide 1000 pencils or a teacher's subsidy
for 1 year or 400 notebokes or basic health support for
30 students or construct one classroom or support a number
of other education needs. ALL SIZES OF DONATIONS ARE WELCOMED.
Donations will be matched with individual schools and distributed
IN WHOLE.
