Mobile Teacher Training

Karen State teachers identified a lack of teacher training as a major problem they face as teachers. In response to this need, KTWG has begun the Mobile Teacher Training Program. Eighteen experienced teachers from Karen State have been chosen to become travelling teacher trainers. They have participated in an intensive training of trainer program and are now familiar with the KTWG's Teacher Trainer Manual. They have returned to their respective districts, walking from village to village, providing in-service training to teachers. These trainers, supported by current KTWG members, will also organize summer vacation training workshops in safe areas in each of the districts.

These 'backpack trainers' will also be responsible for ongoing needs assessments, evaluation as well as program planning. Trainers will travel in Karen State on 3 month cycles, returning to the KTWG training centre to provide reports, receive further training and instruction. These trainers will also be responsible for distributing the Newsletter and teacher subsidies (as these subsidies become available).
