The following is our members explanation of the situation in Pa.an district during his last cycle from September-December 2002:

I visited 17 schools during this period. The curriculum used in these schools was partly SPDC curriculum, partly the KNU curriculum and partly the curriuclum used in the refugee camps. While some schools were doing ok, many had fled and were in the jungle. The major problems are that there is no materials, the community has no food and poor health adn that the school often has to close when the SPDC attack. School attendance is low for these reasons. Also there is a lack of teachers in this district.

The SPDC are located everywhere in this district and it is difficult to predict where they will do their activities. They can proceed onto a village day or night, you are always in danger and in fear. The village elders have to provide food, money and services to the SPDC soldiers. I was unable to meet with village leaders during this period bec ause they had all been called to work for the SPDC soldiers.Click here to see the KEF distribution report for 2002.

In May 2003, our education fund provied 100,000 Baht to Pa.an district schools. Click here for the June 2003 distribution report.
