Doo The Htoo District

Our members report that SPDC has taken almost full control of this district. Our members dound it almost impossible to move throughout the district due to SPDC presence. If they were caught with even the least amount of proof of their education activities they would be arrested. SPDC entered each village at least once a week. Each time SPDC arrived in a village, domestic animals and livestock were shot. SPDC soldiers also stole rice,medicine and other food stuff.

Our members did organize a one day teacher training workshop and asked teachers from two village tracts to attend. 53 teachers attended and returned to their villages the same night. As our members were unable to move, they stayed mostly in their home villages and worked in the local schools.

In June 2002, KTWG's Education Fund provided 50,000 Baht for schools in this district. Click here to view KEF distribution in 2002.
